but how does the roller nut on the deluxe work and how about changing strings. I dont like the pearl dot fret markers i would rather black dot fretmarkers. and whats with the brown pickguard i would rather black or white. I want to keep the look of and classic stratocaster look have a humbucker in the mix to be different. Plus i want to have that clean sound of a strat and i like las pauls too. so would the Startocaster HSS do the job for both?

In a few days I ll get my Fender Am. Strat HSS, and NO- its not deluxe, but i say f@ck the deluxe! The American Series kicks $@!, and no one can tell me that the omfg deluxe is better- Deluxe is too lame, why should a guitar be OVERKILLED with looks and extras; its here to ROCK, not pose to cameras with extra knobs and stuff. Anyway, who cares about the S-1 switch, as long as u get a humbucker? No one uses ALL the different switches anyways. Go American Series!

I like 'em bacause you get more variety and the S-1 switching is very cool too. I've since modded mine to triple fat status by changing out the Fender PuPs for a DiMarzio Tone Zone at the bridge and 2 DiMarzio Pro Tone humbckers in the neck and middle positions.

Pick whichever one works best for you but don't dis others choices.

I picked the AM Deluxe HSS after trying out a lot or guitar, from MiM, Hwy1, standard, and deluxe lines.
IMHO: The deluxe just feels better made with higher quality components, others may feel different of course.:)..

For me, a big part of the Stratocaster Image is the 3 singles... But, to each their own. I still really like the HSS QMT guitar. You have to get your hands on it and just Rock for a while, and keep us posted on how it plays- I Know the HSS would be a great guit for New Metal or blues. You can take a clean guitar and make it sound distorted, it's just not as easy "in reverse".

I just like the sound of the single coil bridge pickup.

but u can get the sound of a 3 single coil strat with the new s-1 switching!

dont you just love fenders technology :)

Totally! All the way! The S-1 Switch, The VG Stratocaster... They should come out with a VG Telecaster, don't you think? Hope thay Do! By the way, I like the SSS more than the HSS, but that's only because I'm a blues player. :P

Hi guys,

was interested in the responses on this subject. I currently own a Fender Strat (Mexican) which I obviously love, but have always found it a bit too clean sounding and lacking that certain edge.
I have just ordered a Fender american delux HSS QMT which should be winging its way from the US to the UK as i speak. I hope that this will give me the best of both worlds. i.e the clarity and cleanness that only the strat can give, but with that bit of umph always ready to come n when required.

Welcome to the forum man! That is a great guitar and you will be pleased no matter what anyone else says,Enjoy my friend!! :) 8)

Iv'e got both.An Am -Deluxe HSS and a Am- Std-SSS. Two different creatures for sure.Love em both but the bucker(w-S1) is great.Different sound, tonal variety. When I want a more traditional sound I grab the SSS. 8)

I like it because for myself its a little more versatile, you have a humucker in there when you need a little more agressivity and you also have the nice single coils for all the rest, I mostly use only the neck single coil for soloing thtas what I like about strats the neck single coil sound.. so the humbucker brings up the agressivity on the guitar :P

HSS baby, it's all about tonal variety. Split the bridge 'bucker and you can have it all.
DELICIOUS!
