seeing a strat headstock with grovers or really any tuners other than oval klusons or f keys with slots is a major turn off, or is it just me :)

I prefer the old tuners too. I think its just us though. You cant discount forty years worth of strats just because of the tuners.

I really like the look of the vintage Fender/Ping tuning machines. No string ends in sight... nice and clean in appearance. Quite easy to string as well. 8)

I'm a big fan of the old 60s slotted Kluson string posts, they made string changes a breeze,I can't see why they stopped using that design.Do the new 60s reissues or any other new Fenders use this type of string post? If a guitar had these posts I would buy it in a heartbeat that is provided everything else was OK with it.

the classic 50's and 60's mexican strats use em, personally i find the tabs (the bits tou hold when tunning the guitar, i forget the name) look alot better than the modern versions which are a bit 'square'

Give me the slots as well.

I wish there were a slotted version of the tuners that are used on the American Standard Strat ...

Has there ever been a locking tuner that had the slotted design?

Yes a Stratocaster is still a Stratocaster without slotted Capstans.

+1
I always thought it was fairly obvious but I guess not everybody knows that you can tell if it's a Strat by that logo on the headstock that says "Stratocaster."
