I thought I read in Premier Guitar last year about a Fender Japan thinline Strat?

Has anyone ever heard or seen of one of these made by Fender? I know there are some knock offs out there.

I've seen Thinline Strats before but always assumed they were Custom Shop one-offs.

Most of the links I've found seem to be custom shop...

Hey Mike, the 2 I saw were both Fenders. I saw them on a stage watching a show so I don't have any links.

Not sure if this will interest you but try this link just for kicks.

I ... very vaguely ... remember some CS matched sets of Thinline Tele and Thinline Strat, sold together as a pair.

I noticed even the pieces of maple were taken from the same part of the same tree.

Nice touch, that.

Yes I remember that pairing also. Mike I have to split with you on this one as the Tele looks great to me. But I am with you on the Strat.

I noticed that too BMW-KTM and I wondered if in fact they were Foto type tops as the grains are almost too much alike,if not it's an uncanny match up job even if from the same tree part.
