Jimmie Vaughan absolutly uses his artist model staight out of the box.

I am pretty sure that Los Lonely Boys use MIM instruments. They may be modified, however.

Are they more successful than Jimmie Vaughan?

I don't think Cray or John 5 uses MIM versions of their models ... Custom Shops probably.
