Just picked up a deal on a '94 MIM Strat.

It does need the frets replaced. I measured
them last night and according to the list on the
Fender tech sheet they are 6105 narrow jumbos.

Does anyone have the Fender replacement part
number for these frets ?? I can find the jumbos
and vintage but not the 6105s.

Thanks,
BC in KC

Hi bluecar, welcome to the Forum.

May I ask what "Fender tech sheet" you are looking at, please? I don't remember seeing Fender naming their frets in terms of Dunlop's wire sizes - but I'm delighted to be educated on that.

Anyhow. 6105 wire is widely available. You don't need a Fender part number to source it - part numbers for Fender frets are another thing I don't ever recall seeing.

Just Google Dunlop 6105 and you will find more sources for fret wire than you can shake a stick at.

Are you going to do the work yourself? Could we see pictures, please?

Cheers - C

EDIT: Ha! The above written before I'd seen FHopkins' post - which addresses most of what I was asking. Presumably that's the very "spec sheet" in question? Thanks Hop!!!

hey bluecar welcome....no worries.... I just woke up one day at 35 and just had to have a guitar....(long sad story)...so I got a standard HSS Strat and learned a whole bunch of stuff here and met a bunch of great people on this forum from all over the world. You will be amazed at the knowledge some people have on this forum. Enjoy yourself, play, play, sleep, eat, play, play 8)

Ah-ha! Just found this interesting thread about Fender fretwire, so I thought I'd come back and post a link here, in case it is useful to someone:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=34235

I think that covers most of what we need to know?

I hadn't seen Forum user Mike Toe's posts before. But anyone who describes themself as "obsessed with fretwire" certainly must have some curious areas of knowledge worth keeping an eye out for! 8)

Cheers - C

I don't get down that end of the Forum very often. I guess I must make more of an effort!

Trauma,

Question ??

Where did you find the info for your HSS thats
at the bototm of your post ??

I would like to know that for my MIM plus what
the paint code is.

It's going to get a new coat of color too.

Thanks,

Bluecar, you can use this: http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

It will at least tell you the year, where it was made, and basic stuff like that! :)
