i wonder if it's possible to put a Floyd Rose Trem on a '92 Strat without taking wood of the guitar in the area of the bridge? :D

 Don't butch up that Guitar Son ! Set it up like a PRO !!!! You
Want Vibredo an still stay in tune right ? How about break a string an
Still stay in tune . Ain't nothing worse than pullin off a 6 note string
bend an POP a 5 string out a tune Strat in your hands , while your
tryin to impress the Girls in the Front Row !! Well heres how the Old
Guys Took Home The Girls !! CK : remove the spring cover & tighten
down the 2 screws on the spring saddle untill the bridge contacts the
Guitars top (deck-surface) or face . Now Adjust the string height &
the Harmonics . You can stomp down on the" Wammie Bar " clean
to the floor an let it slap back , While your winkin at the blonde AND
"WOW" the Strats Still in tune ! An if ya break one she won't go out
a tune ! You can Finish the Set . Works even better after the bridge
"seats" the deck. How about that Leo .. Girls are a waitin..... Look
for more Words of Witt FROM: THE BIG BAMBOO guitar bum!!

Not only is it possible, Fender Made a 1992 Strat with a Floyd Rose. I have one, and it is not a set in FR, so you are not gonna get alot of pitch up, but plenty of dive.
