So in an effort to clarify sizing, I was wondering about the difference in overall LENGTH of a guitar (from butt of guitar to tip of headstock) between a regular Strat and a non-CBS Strat?

I know that the CBS headstock are larger. But they kind of look fatter and not really longer.

If you stood up a CBS era Strat and a non-CBS Strat side by side, what would be the difference in overall height, if any?

Does anyone here have one of each Strat that can do a quick check? Thank you very much!

Cool composite! Thanks for posting that.
I see the bottom of the guitars are not at the same place. But I am having a hard time determining which body goes to which neck?

Is the guitar that sits lower (looking at the bottom of the photo) also the one who's headstock is lower is lower (looking at top of photo)? If so, it looks like the overall length of the guitar is pretty similar.

I make the difference out to be about 3/8 inch. (at most)

I just compared my MIJ '68 RI with large headstock to my MIJ Standard with the small headstock and there is 1/2 in. difference in the headstock size, everything else is exactly the same.

cool, thanks guys. Looks like the difference is not huge.

CAFeathers, when you say 1/2 in. difference in headstock size, does that mean that in comparing the entire length of the guitar, there is a 1/2 in difference?

I guess somewhere around 3/8 to 1/2 in is the approx size difference based on CAFeathers and orvilleowner's comparisons.

Thanks again!

The large headstock Strat is 1/2 in. taller.
