I found this guitar on ebay. It has a miller decal, as in Miller beer I believe. I'm wondering if this checks out. It would be of particular interest to me as my last name is Miller.

Basically I'm wondering if it is authentic or if there is any record of these guitars. I'll possibly ask the seller if it has a serial number on the back on the headstock. Otherwise I don't see a SN anywhere else, also no neck writing on the heel or anywhere else. It doesn't say where it was made on the guitar, only mij on the neck plate. All makes me weary.

Sorry buddy, no Fender guitar has ever been made with that decal, though it is possible, for some odd reason, that someone might have put it on there for kicks and giggles. But as far as Fender ever putting that decal on, they have not.

When they do make those promotion guitars, they seemingly always still keep the Fender logo on the headstock. That makes me think this is likely not any kind of true Miller promotion item ... and, also likely not any kind of true Fender. That all being said, anything is possible. It just seems verrrrrry doubtful.

This does NOT sound like something Fender would do. This story sounds like BS:
"This neck came off a 80's Stratocaster with a 70's neck profile (hence the large head and bullet truss rod). It has a "Miller" name. The Fender store I bought it from stated that only a few were made for some Miller executives as a promotion. That's the story anyway...I didn't care because the neck plays smooth and fast. It has a nice gloss, plenty of fret life, and is perfect straight without dead spots or buzz. It has 21 Frets. The nameplate states "MADE IN JAPAN", a quality greater than "Crafted in Japan". Strat enthusiasts know what I mean. Totally Vintage."

Besides, this doesn't even look like a legit Fender neck. The neck heel looks funky and there is NO evidence of a string tree!!! No serial number on the neck and the neck plate seems fishy.

But if you got $99 to burn it would be cool to have a guitar with your name on the headstock :D

That's not a Fender headstock. It's close but not quite.
It's also not Fender truss rod adjuster.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It's a Squirer...

I've seen them in stores and online for purchase...I believe they go for something like $199.99.

I checked out the body that's for sale too.

It is most certainly not a Fender body ... the two horns are not the right shape (far from it in fact) and the routing is unlike anything seen on a Strat, even of Japanese make.

The neck looks Japanese, but not one sanctioned by Fender.
