I just finished my first custom instrument (a American Standard Telecaster) and I am conceptualizing another idea, this time with a stratocaster.

Basically, after all my tooling around, I am left with some random left over parts from several guitars. The general idea is I want to incorporate all the pickups I have left into one SEVEN pick-up guitar.

The design calls for Seven different on/off slide switches where the pickups can be activated in any combination.

Forgetting phase issues, could I essentially take all the individual leads out of the switches and jam them into one soldering point on the volume pot and have them all work.

I suppose I could have all the 7 leads go to a single 7-in-1-out device, but I am wondering if a soldering point on a pot can accept more then one input.

Also, the pickups are 2 single coils, a humbucker, a mini humbucker, a telecaster bridge and a telecaster neck.

I know it sounds insane, but I am trying to create some kind of Frankenstien monster.

THey fit, I am extending the cavity by a couple inches, but they fit for sure. I'm getting a blank pickguard and creating my own holes.

I seem to remember seeing someone's attempt at that many pups in a guitar before. I don't think it worked out to well.

Nigel Tufnel had a guitar that seemed to have one huge multi-coil Humbucker in it.

If you extend the cavity wouldn't that push your bridge back, thereby messing up your intonation?

"Absurd" is the right terminology for this.

Still, if that don't kill the hum nothing will!!!

AdaAndVan, why not just run each pickup into a row of seven micro-switches so that you can have them on in any combination you like?

Hey, you could give each one its own dedicated mini volume and tone pots too - then the front of your guitar would end up looking like a mixing desk!

We have to accept that sober and sensible is not the required look here... :D

Cheers - C

7 pups?-My dog only had 3.Seriously though that's an interesting concept and allows for a myriad of tonal posibilities if you opt for the mini toggle suggestion that Ceri proposed.I'd love to see and hear the finished product, best of luck with it.Why not call it The conSEPT as sept is french for seven.

I wouldn't be pushing the bridge back, that would require too much work. The strat already has the tremelo bridge, which is connected to the undercarriage of the guitar, so I wouldn't want to mod that. It is just a couple extra half inches at the neck and bridge.

I know it sounds like an insane idea. It is more of a conceptual idea, where I want to incorporate all the left over parts I have into one piece.

I appreciate all your advice.

I'll let you know how the process goes.
