Hello guys, I have a HW1 Strat bought new in jully last year and I wan't to ask you (cause I'm kinda newbie), is it normal that the frets have flattened a little bit (almost all frets). I don't have any grooves, they are just a bit flattened. Is it normal?
P.S. sorry for my English

A little flattening at the top(crown) of the fret is quite normal. When they flatten out too much you may start to find certain notes a little hard to fret clearly. They may give a very slight buzz when you first fret pick the note. When that happens its time for a polish and re-crown. It usually takes me 18 months to get to that stage on my main guitar.

Dont worry about it on a new guitar, its perfectly normal to have what appears to be a slightly flat area. I strongly suspect its due to some replacable part in the fret level/crowning machine on the production line. As its not on every new guitar. I also suspect that though the fret top appears to be flat, it's still got a curve to it. That the radius of that curve is flatter than normal.

Yes, the fret it's not completly flat, it still has that rounded shape but the upper it flattened, i dont'know how to epxplain it; the opupper part is tlattened but on the edges it's still rounded. Maybe I'll post some pictures when i get home.

Andrei.

Its normal for the frets to be like that new. Unless your getting problems from them dont worry about them being flat.

Your English is excellent too.

Thanks mate. I thought it has somwthing to do with my tehnique of playing (i' m a newbie, remember), cause I also have an Ibanez whichi shows the same "problem" with the frets, but again neither the Fender, nor the Ibanez have problems playing them.
