Hi All,

Yesterday I ordered two products:
1. Fender American Standard Stratocaster Olympic White.
2. Fender Frontman 65R amp.
I wanted to spend 1000$ on guitar and 200$ on an amp.

My question is:
could I find a better amp for this guitar in 200$? OR I made the right decision.
I play a lot of blues, classic rock and I have a multi-effect pedal.

Thank you in advance,
Roy.

You wouldn't have gotten much of a tube amp for your $200 budget so in my uneducated opinion, you done good.

The whole point is... you are the only one that has to be happy with it son. Only you. Welcome to the forums. Rock on! 8)

I think you did well. Solid State amps are good for low volume playing and 65 watts is good enough to keep up with a small garage band or small venues.

When you are ready, opt for a good Tube amp. The difference is night and day. And keep in mind that a tube amp's wattage will sound a lot louder, so you may not need a 65 watt tube amp (but if you do, please invest in hearing protection). :D

You Bet you made a good decision. I bought one at christmas time for about $185.00 at guitar center, Bought the warranty too so I spent a little over $200. I tried the 25 watt and didn't like it as much. The 65 comes with a footswitch that comes in very handy, the clean channel is my favorite, The overdrive is really good too, Although its not a tube amp, you can't really tell that amp sounds Great for solid state. It's a litthe loud in my apt. but the louder you crank it the better it sounds. No problem playing with a drummer and being heard. It's the best thing going for $200.00 in my opinion 8)

Kind'a like asking if I should have married my ex-. :? You go with it. Sooner or later you'll know if its a match. Fortunately, swapping out with an guitar amp is a lot less costly.

The dirty little secret is that the vast majority of guitar players can't tell the difference between solid state and tube amps anyway, although they'll claim they can. Ditto with single coil and humbucker pickups. Don't feel bad about your amp.

If you go to the BossUSA website you'll hear numerous examples of pedal-drive distortion effects routed through a JC-120 solid state amplifier. You really can buy your distortion and overdrive in a pedal - from crunch to full breakup.

Great guitar but if it is not too late,I'd return the amp and get a Fender super champ xd...they sell for about $279 and is the best tube in it's price range for sure.It is a genuine tube amp with plenty of usable tones and effects. It is easily the best sounding practice amp available and could be be used for low volume gigs too.In terms of power,it should more or less be as powerful as the 65 you have(15 tube watts vs 65 solid state watts).

I got the Frontman 65R for X-Mas last year and it's a great sounding amp. It's one loud 65 watt combo and my band loves the sound of it. Best amp I've ever had, period!

I've heard the 212R in action as well. A real stormer for the money. 8)

I had the FM65 and sold it then bought the Superchamp XD and i wish i had the FM 65 back. The 65 sounds better at lower volumes.Dont get me wrong the SC is awesome but the 65 was just as nice and cost less.
