question gentlemen....do strats have a "traditional" string gauge? Like 9's as opposed to 10's due to a "traditional strat sound"?...I was given this info in GC when I was getting a setup

My 2009 Standard Strat came strung with Bullet 9s. I don't know if that is "traditional" or not. That is what is spect on the Standard. Same strings on the American Standard too.

Fender uses Fender Super Bullets 250R on their AVRI 57 (see specs). I guess Fender deems these a classic sounding string‽ Sounds good on my Highway 1 Stratocaster. :D

For quite some time now new Fenders come with 9's and I suspect 9's are prolly the most popular gauge. Most people I know use 9's. Whether that makes 9's traditional or not depends on who you talk to and how far back you want to go in defining traditional. There was a time when everyone I knew played 10's. There was a time when everyone I knew ran 12's on their acoustics. Now it seems to be 10's and 11's.

Everything except AVRI's come with .009"s. AVRI's come with .010"s.

If you had purchased a pre-cbs strat or tele it would have come with .012"s with a wound G.

I may be wrong but I'm almost sure that my 04 50th Ann. American Series came with 10s.I know that where I was used to using 8s I found them a lot harder to use and changed them as soon as I got home.
