Has any one played one of these Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitars with the Sienna Sunburst Rosewood Fingerboard? I am GASing right now, and I like the looks of the burst. But how does it sound/play. I have only seen them at Musician's Friend.

It is either one of these baby's or wait another month for a Blues JR amp.

They're also listed at Music 123.. but not available until March 15. The pictures at Musician's Friend seem to show an older ('06 maybe) MIM standard HSS Strat since it looks like the MIM is on the front of the headstock. But, I'm guessing they're just using an old photo...

Hmm... my local Guitar Center also had one but doesn't have an ash body and doesn't have the special switching mentioned in the description... It was just a standard HSS MIM Strat feature-wise. I think it was one of a factory special run (FSR) done for GC awhile back. The Sienna Sunburst looked great, though. I'm hoping the Music 123 version is something newer than the GC one I saw.

I thought those pics looked...old. I was wondering if someone has played one? I am liking the finish, but hate buying guitars based on looks alone.

The big winner category these past months has been the American Standard in that finish. Apparently its popularity has made its way to Ensenada. Consider it nothing more than an MIM rosewood in a new suit.

Notice the back of that guitar doesn't have a block coloured tummy cut. That means its a non veneered bit of wood, right?

I'd go with the guitar mate. I honestly think the blues junior is a one trick pony. Thats about as far as I'm going where that amps concerned.

That guitars great looking and I dont doubt will give you hours of pleasure.

I agree with Niki as being the owner of a Blues Junior I would say maybe you should checkout some other amps in that price range.

Just a little update...

I went to a couple local music shops tonight on my way home from work. The first one I went to had one of those Sienna Bursts (GC) and it looked awesome. I played it and was impressed by it, but not blown away. So I went around the corner to another Music store (TME) and played the American Special Stratocaster (SSS). I have one word for the American Special (SSS) Stratocaster...AWESOME!!!

I know it has the CBS headstock on it and not too many people like it. The tone on that guitar is great. Love those Texas Specials. I do not like the HSS model because of the bridge pick-up, it just sounds weak. Just for grins I played an American Standard. I wanted to see and hear the difference. The tone on the American Special simply blew it out of the water. The neck was way more comfortable to me. As far as the frets were concerned, the American Special's were better because I like jumbo frets, and a definate upgrade from the old Highway 1.

I have read reviews from people that say spend the extra $200 on the American Standard because it comes with a HSC...I say buy the American Special and spend that extra $200 on a Fender HSC and new strings.

So no new amp in my immediate future, nor is there a Sienna Burst Standard (MIM) Stratocaster. I'll have to save 300 more dollars to walk out of the store with that American Special. The Candy Cola Red looks awesome up close. IMHO the best new guitar I have ever picked up. I highly recommend this guitar to any one who likes the way they look. And...I challenge those who do not like they look to play it and grade it on playabilty and tone.

Disclaimer...Not everyone will like this guitar, but I think most will.
