He just proves there are more horses arses than there are horses. I wonder if Buddy Guy, BB King or Hubert Sumlin read the article.
He really needs to back off the weed for a while.

Mayer just don't know when to keep his big mouth shut. They should replace him at the Crossroads Guitar Festival with Lady GaGa or goo goo or whatever her name is.

I was wondering the same thing.I doubt Buddy and B B are gonna be there to support him this time.He shouldnt believe his own press about himself.Any small amount of credibility he had with the Blues crowd is gone. Not that there was much to begin with mind you.

It doesn't take balls to say what he says, just a lack of forethought.

Thing is, he's not a 20 year old kid saying this garbage, he's what, in his early 30's? What a dumbass. :?

His apology seemed insincere to me. case of shooting ones mouth off, shooting self in foot, then a token apology crafted by PR team.

sadly this event didn't lower my opinion of him, he's always come off as a horses backside.

he apologized for this already. doesn't anyone in the strat forum read the Ask Mike Eldred forum?

it takes balls to make statements like he did, but it takes even more balls to publically address them, and give an emotional, heartfelt apology. f$%k all you people who still are hating on this. it's done and over with.
So chanman, could you pleasepoint out where in that drivel he actually apologises for what he said, or actually addresses the content of his interview. This just sounds like "now that i have opened my mouth people might not like me." There is no apology in there at all.

I can,t wait for the next dumb $@! thing to come out of his mouth. He needs to disappear and grow up. If he is at the crossroads concert I will not be going. I will be letting the orginizers of the event know how I feel. He is very disturbed and need to seek help. Those who worship him need alittle help also. Womanizing Racist comes to mind.

I think a chunk of the problem is the media blows things way out of proportion and yes he is an idiot for saying things the way he said them. If he would have just said hey I don't dig black women, instead of the derogatory $@!&# comment he would have been fine. But I think he tries to come off as some a intelectual or someone who has things all figured out, but as you can see he doesn't. Sometimes I wonder if he doesn't say the things he says to get the media up in arms.. You know the old (no such things as bad publicity). And the whole hood pass comment (people say things in bad taste from time to time). What he feels as appropriate comments aren't to most..
But fortunately for mayer people have a short attention span. Just my two cents I guess....

JM knew exactly what he was saying. He just misjudged the reaction. Celebs go into these interviews prepped to say sound bites. No way he didn't know that the language he used would not be acceptable amoung the people he considers peers. His attitude is of a insensitive celeb hungry for constant face time in the rags and an overly inflateted sense of self importance. By the way it is not balls to say idiot things and then apologize. It takes brains to never go out of bounds and it takes heart for the compassion to apologize. He blew it on the first, I hope he got it right on the second.

I don't see what the big deal is with what he said. Why is the race thing SUCH a big deal? I mean, I'm white. Someone could call me any kind of racist term for "white guy" and it wouldn't bother me. I'd say "yep, that's me, I'm a _______" Are people not proud to be of thier own race? I hope I'm not offending anyone here. If so, I apologize. I just don't understand.

I don't think he deserves a Fender Signature model guitar.

What was JM thinking?

The same thing he's always thinking - he's thinking about how awesome everyone thinks he is.

Can we watch it a bit on the language in this thread? Not really necessary.

you seem a little confused. look at your own comment and re-think what it is you said then go back 60 years into history..see what people of color went through...then answer your own question
