the black nut. gentlemen (and ladies, if there happen to be any reading this) starting to think it's a cort. i'm looking at one for sale on craigslist. (only for identification). low and behold. it has a black nut. the big c i think i'm looking at on the headstock and the black nut.

Just the fact that the seller covered up the headstock before taking the picture kind of sent up a red flag. But then considering that it is a government auction they likely just didn't know better.

On the plus side, some of the best deals can be found at general auctions. An auction of musical instruments is going to be run by people who are familiar with their value. An auction with farm machinery, tools, appliances, and a few guitars thrown in can get you a good deal because they don't know the difference between a Custom Shop Relic and an old beat up guitar.

Very true, there was a farm auction here in Michigan. A Gibson LP Smartwood sold for around $400 with case. I found out after the fact.... oh well...

I Do hope so! but I guess, considering all of the comments on this post, it's a fake/copy. But I don't realy care if i'm going to be able to get it for that price! :)
