Like many of us, my passion to play the guitar was seeded by my fathers own interest. He supported me, and I now have a hobby that I will enjoy for the rest of my life.
His interest in playing has fluctuated over the years, sometimes leaving his guitars untouched for years at a time. With my interest now stronger than ever, I want my father to share in that interest. We have made progress. He is practicing a few times a week now, and I have been pushing his gas button for the last month or so.
Today I went over for a visit, and he asked me if he could put a humbucker in his telecaster. I asked why he wanted to do that, and he expressed that the hum coming from the amp annoys him.
I would like your recommendations. The guitar is a 99 MIA Tele. If the guitar sounds duddy, he would rather play his acoustic. Can he retain the Tele sound, and eliminate the hum?
Any and all advice is very much appreciated!

Some choices here for stacked and/or single coil sized humbuckers for tele's.
Other companies make em too, if you look around. these should drop in without having to do any body modifications.
