the vg is just to much for me. i don't see it as a "true" strat if you get what i am saying.

I'd go clapton. I like simple guitars, less problems or parts to repair/replace. Bandmate has a vg, though it does operate as a reg. strat when battery dies, you can hear tone change as battery goes. It does have some nice tonal options. :)
