I recently acquired an interesting instrument from the Fender line of instruments. During one of my journeys on the Epic Ebay, I happened to run across a 2006 Mexican Fender Stratocaster with a Solid Tobacco Sunburst Flame Top and a Darker Alder maybe Ash Back, with no Pickguard, and 2 Control Knobs (Volume and Tone). So I asked the Seller if this was some kind of special guitar or etc. He said no, and that it was just an ordinary 2006 Mexican Fender Standard Stratocaster as far as he knew. Long story short I put in a bid of $300, lo and behold I won plus a hardshell Fender Case. So I received the guitar today and I looked at it and its Beautiful but I just don't know anything about it. I know its a FSR because I've seen others in Solid colors ex.

But I've only seen one that is similar style to mine. This is lighter than mine

Really my main question is if somebody could tell me some info about my instrument, did I steal it price wise compared to its value, or anything valuble info about it. Compared to my Black American Lonestar it is aesthetically more appealing and with some mods it will be a worthy instrument. Here's the listing for my guitar disregard the Reserve not Met, I got it.

Regarding the battery cavity on reverse body...

Does it use lithium batteries?

Hey. That's actually where you reach the electronics the Pots, Capacitors, Wiring and etc. This doesn't feature active pickups, no batteries. Doesn't it remind you of a Droptop.

They really aren't that rare, one sold at my local shop a couple of weeks ago for 299 and it had sat there for a while, so I think you paid just about right.

Yes and it has a gorgeous looking top veneer or finish.

Your guitar was made at the
Ensenada Plant (Fender), Mexico
in the Year(s): 2005 - 2006

I think you got a great deal! 8)

Great deal, especially with a case. Its not exactly rare, but Fender has made a few quilt top guitars over the years. They stopped making them last year. The guitar does have the 60th anniversery logo which every strat at the time yours was made had it. FSR is a Factory Special Run which is just another way of saying the distributor asked for a particuliar strat design to sell. Its unusal for a strat and sometime that's a bad thing because people may dismiss it for a knockoff strat instead of the real deal.

I had one similar to the musicmaxx link in tobacco burst. Mine is a 2004 FSR FMT. Nice guitar, but nothing special, except I THINK the pups are Tex Mex. About USD 300. I think they came in tobacco and cherry flame.
