So it does click. Interesting. I'm going to the Music store after work to turn all the Am Std Tone knobs I can find, see if they click too. Interesting.

Thanks Martian.

To clarify an apparent ambiguity: One doesn't hear a click. Rather, one will most certainly feel it while turning this type of pot.

Yes, my 97' American standard operates the same way. it's a feel rather than hear click into place when the bridge tone pot is rotated all the way clockwise to number ten  .

I have cleared all this up. Rather than going to the store as planned. I went home and rolled the tone knob up and down, and up and down, and up and down, well you get the picture.

It is a very subtle mechanism. I didn't really feel it going up to 10, but it "sticks" a little when going down from 10 to 9, then smooth all the way down to 1. I didn't think it clicked. Glad to know everything is working the way it should.

Thanks everyone.

Exactly! That little bit of it wanting to stick at 10 is the detente. It is not an audible "click". 8)

Hi all, in an earlier thread regarding my 97' American Strat, i had asked what the little "clicking into place" that occurs when i dial my bridge tone pot all the way to ten means. Most posts agreed that i do indeed have a delta tone model, as the "clicking in" at number ten is how that works, as opposed to around number 5 on the dial. I get all that, but just what is the clicking into place cause please? Again, many thanks to all who help here! :D

There is a detent shaped into the can of that pot. This detent interplays with the internal moving part of your pot and merely lets you know you have dialed the pot all the way up to '10' by clicking it in, so to speak.

.....and the same 'clue', so to speak, is employed in the TBX, though the two pots have completely different functions, where the former serves as kind of treble/bass eq, while the later bypasses the function completely.

I think if you run it hot through an amp (hi gain/high vol) and mute all the strings and turn it on/turn it off, turn it on/turn it off... you should hear it click on/off (through the amp, of course) to verify if working *or this may be from the darn fluorescent lights in my house* . Or take it apart and test it properly
