Alas Grammerman a masterbuilt (probably the master of masters too) Relic is a very different affair to a MIM roadworn.

You cant compare a hand crafted masterpiece by the guy who was half a team to first step into the relicing process to a bunch of guitars knocked out on a machine, no matter where their made.

What a stunner that Cunnetto is.

I'm not a fan of the color, but that neck wood grain! Wow!

Exactly. Here's another fine example of roadworn...

People can knock the low price cookie cutter relics that are the Road Worn series, but then turn around and drool at the chance of paying really Big Bucks for cookie cutter "The Black One" relics (all 83 with the same type relicing).

Something doesn't add up.

I can't knock it for its price. I actually think its overpriced for a Mexican Strat. I'd rather have a signature strat for the same or lessor price.

The Black One is a reproduction guitar, of course they are all going to look the same. As did the SRV #1, the Jeff Beck Esquire etc etc.

Of whose guitar was "The Black One" a reproduction?

SRV's #1 was a real guitar worn down by real guitarists.
Jeff's Esquire was a real guitar worn down by real guitarists.
Rory's Strat was a real guitar worn down by real guitarists.

The first Black One was worn down in a factory by guys with screwdrivers and awls and keys. Throw in a little compressed air too.

Right on! Relic'd guitars are made naturally, not from dragging it around in a parking lot or open field....

IMO, The price is way out of line on the RW's. It's a mass produced, cookie cutter beat up guitar with mediocre pickups. I pulled a couple off the wall with not only really poor setups and intonation but fret sprout too. Not acceptable to me for a guitar that's anywhere from $900 to a grand. I wouldn't accept that on any guitar actually. It should have been either caught at the factory or at the dealer before it even was hung on the wall.

I think that worn down doesn't equal trashing down or intentionally breaking up things but instead a gradual degradation by using it in natural way, the way it's meant to be used? Maybe even a bit abusive way, but...

I think we are all in agreement here that Rory couldn't "worn" his guitar that way in two-three lifetimes playing 0-24. Stevie was just tad better in this regard (judging from the pic) :P .

So for me personally his guitar can also be described as horrible reliced. :)

No pun intended of course, it is just my opinion.

Who agrees with that statement?

By viewing album covers and pictures from over the years, you can watch the progression of wear on Rory's Strat.

I do believe that SRV's and Rory's had some wear when they got them ...
