I saw this guitar for sale at Guitar Center's website for like $800. I was just curious if anyone has picked one up yet? If so, what do you like and don't like about it. Right now I have a MIM strat, thinking about getting a new one.

All I can say is go out and play one. I played a couple the other day and I dod not like the HSS models. I have not had a chance to play the SSS model yet.

I bought a 2 Color Sunburst SSS American Special Strat 3 weeks ago. I play mostly clean blues and classic rock through Fender tube amps and the Texas Special pickups are a good match for my styles of music. I like the looks of the gloss urethane finish, too.

I can't think of anything I don't like about my American Special. The fret work is very good, it stays in tune, sounds good and looks good. It's an excellent guitar for the money.

Try one, I think you'll like it. :)

John

Go for an American Standard. why? where to begin....

American special has no case. Any worthwhile guitar should have a case. Figure a case costs 100 dollars.

It has an inferior truss rod, satin finish on both sides, different pickups, etc. the list goes on.

All that for a difference of only 200? Go with an Am Std, you won't regret it
