to me buying custom shop guitars on ebay isn't the safest thing to do.
if i were you i would try these legit fender sutom shop dealers:

http://www.themusiczoo.com/category/FCG ... p-Guitars/

and

http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/

both very reliable sites.

I have to order online, theres no question about it. I live in such a remote wasteland that there is no other option.

I don't even know if those sites will ship to me or not.

nevin, if you are in the western part of Sask. and you are looking to drop custom shop type money, you should drive to Edmonton, and go to Avenue Guitars on Whyte ave. One of only 2 showcase dealers in western canada.

If you have the money for a CS guitar, you can afford the trip!

Nevin I do not know if you have a Deluxe with the S1 system. I picked up both a Tele and Ash Strat model this year as the Tele was the first Fender I have bought in 8 years and I loved the Deluxe so much I got an Ash Strat to. The word is they are discontinuing this series which makes no sense at all to me as it is just an amazing ax from the finish and craftsmanship to the tone.

I picked up both of mine on ebay that were from stores who sold them NOS which saved me $1,300 total on two new guitars with warranty that were a year old. If you dont have one I would go this route and if they are being discontinued and you can wait a bit you can probably grab one for $999 when GC bust out the inventory like they did when the VG was discontinued.

Nevin: u could go with a luthier and build your dream strat with original specs/parts.
I´m very happy with my build.

I´m a collector too, my guitar has everything fender original. xcept i put the finest ash body custom crafted, better than any other off shelf fender u can find. I consider my guitar a real fender startocaster, it has the finest pieces. Everyone drools over it.
