Hi everyone, after receiving lots of knowledgable help last time I posted on here, I thought i'd be cheeky and ask another question. Theres some 50's strat pickups on ebay being sold seperately and wondered what sort of value people think they each.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

David.

Site unseen, unless you are restoring a 50's Strat and must have them for the whole OEM thing, there are MANY boutique manufacturers including Fender who can duplicate 50's Strat pickups for less than whatever the seller is asking. Of note too is that just like SO many pickups from that time period, due to inconsistent construction techniques of the time, there is absolutely NO guarantee that they are even going to sound good or intrinsically, what condition they remain in. So, premising that you are NOT restoring a 50's Strat, I wouldn't gamble any more than what a set of reproductions would cost if you really feel an inclination to have them. Again though, with repros, at least you'll get a guarantee that they will sound like the best of them from that period, they will be in NEW, stable condition and on top of it all, you will get a warranty with them.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

If you do intend to buy them, make sure that you ask about the leads. I've seen quite a few used 50's pups with very short leads.
