Does anyone know what the neck measurement is from front to back on these guitars? I have a rosewood deluxe and I find its neck too thin for my liking so I am hoping to spec up a slightly more chunky one. I have no way of accurately measuring mine so maybe someone here might already know?

Hi Brian.

I used a cloth tape measure, the kind tailors use. Put the 1" measurment on one edge of the board and take the tape round the back to the other edge.

As an aside take a look at the Notrod (yes Notrod not Hotrod) line that feature early tele inspired neck shapes.

Do try it and keep notes too. ZZDoc, Alain la France and I have all compared notes on our various soft V shaped necks. It works well.

I take it your going to be ordering a specific shape soon. n(nod nod, wink wink, say no more guv).

If so this site provides a bit of info as to vintage guitar neck shapes.

I think with where your heading you need to spend time in a high priced shop, take a pen and notebook. When ordering you will be able to give a clearer idea of what you want.

I just re-shaped the rear of one of my necks. Its a D shape round the back of the bass strings and a V round the back of the treble end. It's really nice and lets my smaller hands hook the thumb over for low end barre chords.
Gibson call it a symmetrical shape. I call it a VD shape.
Theres a multitude of possibilities for you. The world is your lobster.
