Did anyone out there replace their single coil with a humbucker? I've been thinking about getting an HSS Strat or possibly an Epi LP. I really don't want to spend the money however. I've been thinking about putting in one of the Duncan humbuckers. Will this greatly affect my tone? Have any of you done it and wished you hadn't? The only electric guitar I have is a MIM Strat and I really like the the feel and sound of it. I guess I want the best of both worlds, is this possible?

My beater is a highly modified '91 MIM Strat. I put a Duncan JB (SH4) in the bridge position. I like the 'gritty' tone and pinch harmonics that I get from this pickup.

Mine is not a Duncan, but a Dimarzio. It looked like this:

to what you see in my Sig. I absolutely love mine. I do have a coil split on the humbucker so I can get a Single Coil sound when I want it.

For me, this was the best thing I did for the over all tone of my guitar. I do play a lot of Hard Rock, Metal, Thrash, and Blues with my guitar.

I had a Fender Lonestar Strat. HSS configuration. I found the humbucker overpowers the single coils to the point the humbucker was almost flat with the pickguard. Tone is too much for a strat. I have a Epi Les Paul with the mohagany body and set neck that sound great with humbuckers. Those two guitars give me two very different tones through the same setup

Guitar>>Tuner>>Equalizer>>Overdrive>>AMP...
