Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and just had a question about my newly purchased 79 strat. I just wanted to know if 79 trems had fender stamped on the saddles. Because mine appears not to have any. It is stamped with a number on the block though and the block is very "fat" like a real fender. It is such a great guitar but I am just curious of the originality!

Any help will be brilliant :-).

Thank you.

David.

no 1979 strats did not have Fender stamped on the saddles, the should be plain block saddles

If you flip them over the number "027037" should be stamped on them.

Thanks for the pics, but I don't think that's a 1979 Strat.

I think it's from the 1981 International Color series (in Monaco Yellow):

http://www.strat-central.com/cbs80s.htm

A lot of the early '80s Strats had S9 serial numbers, fooling many (many) people into thinking they have a 1979.

I have an '82 strat..... but in 82 they changed.... my guitar looks just like this one though..... the serial number is really low on it though..... maybe they started the line for that year and then changed them? or maybe may strat is infact an '81? If someone can tell me how to post a picture I will :)

If you (or the original poster) really want to get the details about your guitar's age, you will have to take it apart. There are date codes on the various parts and pieces .... if you don't know how to interpret the codes, post them here and someone will decipher them for you.

All the pots date to 79, and it has a 3 screw neckplate. Then the greybottoms which make me believe that it is 79.

I didn't know Fender put two string tees on the guitars from the 70's....

Most of the Strats in the '70s had two string trees.
