It was during the holidays, might have been a "Best Of" or looking back at the past year kind of show.

Right, my thought too. He claims to be a collector, but then he comes here to ask how much a 1954 Strat is? It doesn't add up. And I won't be selling mine, thank you.

Lots of interest in 1954 Strats lately. I guess people love that round string tree!

Vinnypop sure liked them too, remember? He claimed Lonely Boy sounded like a 1954

This entire thread brought to mind the currently popular...."I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you." :P I know of just such a guitar which is still in regular use by a journeyman guitarist.....but......if I told you, well...........

May be cheaper (and easier on your eternal soul  ) to go this route:

Be careful what you wish for. We could all go back, purchase a clutch of guitars, fast forward again, having changed history, and then what?????????

Here's a 1956 Fender Reissue Relic for $1875

http://elderly.com/vintage/names/fender ... -15868.htm

Here's 1963 Fender Strat for $20,000

http://elderly.com/vintage/names/fender ... -14323.htm

A 1954 is going to cost a lot more then $20,000.

A local shop has one for $44,000.

Yep, the average Joe isn't strumming a vintage strat unless they bought it new or used 50 years ago...

Send the lot to Ceri. He'll do wonders with it.

Why have an old used guitar anyway? The electronics are old and the parts are old. You might ruin it by using it. Its better to find a new(er) guitar and make your own wear and tear on it....

Those who suffer from Strad syndrome feel they play better. Different strokes.

zzdoc - I like 'Strad syndrome'. Can I use that?

I'm quite happy with a new-ish US strat. When I can afford it I'll get a custom shop strat, got no interest at all in spending tens of thou on vintage when they're making guitars just as good right now.
