Hi Guys!

I`m from Argentina, and a little while ago buy this Fender MIM Deluxe, play razonably good and the neck is very confortable. The sound is a little bit opaque (no brigthy). The pickups are Alnico.

The Body have a flamed Sunburst in black/brown in the front.

I never see a Fender with this flamed top.

What´s yours opinions about that Fender MIM Deluxe. It´s original one?

I give a thanks in advance.

Sorry for my English

Ariel

Doesn't look original to me. I don't think Fender ever had that color option for any guitar. The bridge is definately not Fender.

The neck is suspiscious too, judging by the placement of the decals. Let's see what others say.

Looks very supect all right. The bridge is definitely not Fender, the pickups look like they came from a Squier and the tuners look like copies of Klusons.

Have you ran a check on the serial number?

The Pickguard screws are Flat Head screws, Not Phillips Head ones.

The only time if I am correct that the flat head screws were ever used on a Fender Guitar was in the early 50's....I think Prototype even???

Definately suspect???

waaaaaay suspect, i agree that the pickups look like there off a squier maybe even knockoffs completley the screws are totally off, the color has never been in production for fender (nor for a prototype i checked) the serial number is even sketch, the original contour design dosent look right, sorry but nothing about this guitar says fender to me other than the headstock logo.....which says fender lol

I remove the original screws from the pickguard and install this tipe of screws because are the onlys that i can find.

I suspect about the body, but I still think the neck is original, it`s really confortable and look nice with the nitro finish.

How I run a check on the serial number?

Thanks a lot.

Open this page http://www.fender.com/support/consumer_relations.php and email Fender consumer relations with a description and the serial number of your giutar. They will send you complete information on your instrument. I hope this turns out to be a good one for you.

I guess the main thing right now is that YOU like it!

Someone said just a little while back that it would not make sense for anyone to counterfeit a Made In Mexico guitar because the value of used Mexican instruments would not warrant all the work it would require. I agree. But you won't know for sure until Fender tells you about it. Good luck.

According to the serial number it would have been made in 97-98. Which proves nothing :)

I just had a look in the Fall 1997 Frontline catalog/magazine. There is a guitar that's close to yours: in the MIM Deluxe series, a "Deluxe Super Strat." It's got a headstock like yours and gold hardware.

But these are listed as having an Ash body, brown shell pickguard, and an extra little switch that brings in the bridge pickup (for a total of 7 combinations). It was offered in black (color number 06), brown sunburst (32), crimson transparent (38), and honey blonde (67).
