The Highway 1 is Fender's entry level USA made Stratoster.

Highway One™
Highway One™ Stratocaster® (Upgrade)

0111160

The Highway One series is upgraded for '06! Super-size frets, '70s styling, new alnico pickups and new colors take this amazing guitar to the next level.

The new pickups on the Highway One Stratocaster guitar produce a more round tone that can sound glassy and great with high gain. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the body wood's natural tone shine through, making for one of the most exciting new instruments in the Fender family!

I talked to the manager at my local GC, but he doesn't have any leftover '06s. He turns his inventory over fairly regularly. Looks like I missed the boat . . . again.

There's a Guitar Center in Kendall. How deep in the Keys are you?

I secured a Honey Blonde one myself earlier this week. Now I have to wait for the Big Brown Truck to arrive. This is my first Strat (currently own a Std Tele MIM), I'm still looking for a Tele H1 on this GC close-out deal. At this price($388.60) you can not go wrong, if later you decide to sell it no worries! What kind sound are you getting out of your H1 Strats? I did not get to try one prior because my local stores were sold-out.

This close out has been going for awhile. I got my HWY 1 at the end of October for $388 when I bought mine the only one they were clearing out was the 3-tone. I couldn't believe my luck. I'm glad to hear others are getting thier hands on this great guitar for such a great price.

Scored the highway 1 on Friday. GC would not give the 20% off. But I tried. 2 questions on you highway 1's. Where the neck meets the body, do you you have a small gap between the wood under the last fret and the body? Secondly if you play it wearing a short sleeve shirt does the satin finish rub your strumming arm more than a high gloss finish?

Every HWY 1 I have seen including mine has that gap. As for rubbing in my opinion it's no more or less then any other guitar.

Backplates are worthless.

I guess what I meant to say is that my forearm feels a little raw afterwards.

This was a much earlier post. It was the typical GC run around where they play dumb on the sale. It was kind of beat up finish and they should have marked down further. The back plate missing just emphasized it was mistreated. I got a 3 tone sunburst no dings or scratches.

the gap is there on both hwys i own, and the backplates are plastic. if you plan on buying the one w/o the back plate, i say go for it, backplates run you about 15 -20 bucks or so, maybe cheaper.

3 springs on them, can we add 2 more strings, or would that be an issue with these guitars?

For the record mine is a 2007 and not a 2006. Wonderful deal!
Mine came from GC in Manhattan! It was waiting for me.
