The price you got it for, was that in euros? I stopped up at GC, they had one left missing the back plate and wanted $450.00.

WOW! MSRP for that guitar is $999.99 before any discounts.

Even at 40 percent off MSRP that guitar would still be $599.99 (which is a great price).

I wonder, does the guitar have a cosmetic issues (B stock)?
Otherwise the guitar is below most dealers actual net cost. That must make FMIC really happy :?

Yota67,

You should have bought all 3 of them and ebayed the other two. You would have covered the cost of the first one.

Called 10 different stores. The best price I found so far was $388.00. 60% of the stores have no idea of the sale or are playing dumb to it.

I am going to go after the sunburst highway 1 for $388.00.

But it gets even better. I am on Guitar Center's mailing list and next Friday is an invitation only sale time, betweent 8:00 and 10:00 A.M. 20% off any one item even if it is allready discounted. That will take the highway 1 down to a price of $310.00.

What's going on? Are they going to discontinue the Highway?

I bought an '02 SB Strat on eBay a couple of years ago for much more than $389 !!!

No they are not going not going discontinue them. They changed the colors for 2007 and the new colors were more popular. So getting the 2006 out the door has probably become a problem.

I picked up a new standard strat MIM brand new for $270.00. Why so low, it was midnight wine color which is not popular. Not a scratch on it and plastic still on the pickguard. Color has now grown on me and I actually like it.

I am not in a band, I only play for myself, wife & kids so they do not care what color a guitar is. Except for probably pink.

That's a hefty discount just to move out old colors. I think they're great guitars. I'd hate to see them go the way of the California Series.

I had just bought a MIM when I read the post about Guitar Center closing out some Highway 1's, but I figured for that price I couldn't afford to NOT buy one. Called over to the GC in Lubbock and talked to Kelly and he knew exactly what special I was talking about, so I took the afternoon off and went and bought a new red Highway 1 for $426.00 with gig bag. No matter how you slice it, that's a deal. Now if I could only get them to close out that new Lenny SRV Strat.....................

Thanks for the heads up. I played a honey blond in GC Memphis yesterday and couldn't afford the $749 pricetag, but after reading this thread, I called GC and sure enough I was out the door @ $427 with tax! I love the way it plays and I've heard the Nitro finish will improve the tone over time. Anyway, thanks again!
