CHEESY???!!?? No way!!!

ALL the players I've admired...Hendrix, Trower, Blackmore, Lowell George,Bolin......all had these large headstocked guitars. It gave them even MORE coolness..if that's possible. They wouldn't look the same playing anything less!

I, personally think it's GORGEOUS!!

I wouldn't have it ANY other way!!

There is another person who sported the fat headstock at times.

It does have a certain funkiness to it. I'm not opposed to the fat headstock, but I've never owned a guitar that had one. I'd be fine with either one.

What's everyone's headstock preference? 50-60's pre CBS or the 70's?

Personally, the 70's is a cheesy as they come.... no wonder why they put them on squires. They want to sell MIM strats instead...

This is the post that first had the word cheesy in it. I utilized the same word (sarcasm) in my reply. Please note the sig...my HWY 1.

Oddly enough, my Squier CV 60 has the small headstock.

I love Fender Stratocasters, I think the 70's headstocks are cool. Like I said, a lot of people played guitars with them as I was growing up. I also like the classic smaller look as well.

I have to admit that I bought my HWY1 specifically for the 70s style headstock and logo plus the HSS pups. I was in high school from '76-'80 and that big headstock was iconic of the psychedelic era that I was listening to at the time. Still the more slender modern headstocks are a great presentation too. The smaller footprint is sexier I believe. Glad I don't have to choose since I have it all between my AmDlx and HW1.

I love the BIG funky headstock, but I play Fender bass as well as guitar and I'm used to lookin up there and seeing some real estate on the end of my neck! I never thought a P-Bass head looked too big, or cheesy. Of course everything on it is bigger, but you know what I mean. My main guitar is the Jazzmaster too, so I'm close to the PHAT FUNK on that baby too.
My USA standard strat has the sexy little racing headstock, and sure I love it, it looks just fine... but I always wanted a '69 Strat with that large loopy looking headstock. Just looks so super cool to me. (must buy custom shop '69, must buy custom shop '69, must buy....)

oh and don't forget the Telecaster Deluxe. Could you imagine that ax with any other headstock on it? Nuh, you can't. Do you want one so bad it makes you cry in secret at night? Probably not, but you DO want one... possibly with a factory Bigsby, definitely in black. Come on, don't lie to yourself. You want one.

Well, I'm definitely feeling the love for the big headstock and the Telecaster Deluxe. But not in black. 8)

Wow, thanks Miami Mike, that's a beautiful vista.
How about that Starcaster, what a cool headstock. I've always wanted one of those babies. Man I'd have anything with those Seth Lover Wide Ranging Hums in it!

Yeah, I like the headstocks with the slotted vintage tuners. Wish they were still standard issue.

+1 on that Mike. My Jazzmaster is my most stable guitar for tuning because of those slotted tuners. I want em on everything.
