What's everyone's headstock preference? 50-60's pre CBS or the 70's?

Personally, the 70's is a cheesy as they come.... no wonder why they put them on squires. They want to sell MIM strats instead...

For me the bands I grew up with that played Fender had those Cheesy 70's headstocks. I like them. I have no preference, big or small headstock I like them both. I absolutely love my '07 HWY 1 Stratocaster; however, not everyone likes them.

The 70's headstock in the Highway 1 is part of the reason I don't own one.

Sorry, but like I said not everyone likes them. I also love the Jumbo frets on it too. It happens to be the smoothest and most comfortable guitar I have played and owned in a long time. But to each their own. I am just thankful that Fender has so many different models to choose from, something for anyone.

Peace,

RK

I own a 74 Strat but I do prefer the smaller headstock on my 2006 AM Std

Both my Tom Delonge Sig Strat and my 09 Highway 1 have the Fat Headstock. I actually prefer them over the small.
But i am one of a few that enjoy the CBS headstocks.
They just look meaner to me than the smaller one. But the Sound IS the same.

I prefer the smaller one, not that size should matter.

In truth I'm trying to swing myself round to big ones. After all its a pretty insignificant part of the guitar. Its only there to hold the tuners and aid balance.

I love the big headstock because it reminds me of Hendrix.

Part of me also thinks I should embrace the fat headstock. Maybe its how the logo is following the curve of the headstock. I guess its the whole 70's acid trip era thing I'm not a fan of... The headstock weight does make sense though...

Then again, give me a soft v-neck profile with a 12" radius, rosewood fretboard, jumbo frets, and a satin finish and I could care less what the headstock looks like.

The only thing I disliked about my hwy 1 was it's headstock...It grew on me though. Cosmetically if I have the choice I like the Pre-CBS Headstock especially with the rosewood board.

I really like the large headstock ... I don't know if it is my preference, but I do really like it.

On my perfect strat I like the smaller strat head with a maple neck/fingerboard.

90's american standard '87-'94. I like the shape and the logo too. I know you didnt mention it, you missed it.

Although perhaps a rosewood 70's with a bullet... but I prefer the 97-94 contemporary headstock & logo myself...
