Everyone has had a bad gig, any funny stories or something out of the ordinary thats happened?

I got a couple

One gig I played was coming to an end I saw a group of guys leaving and said "yea guys, thanks for coming out" I guess they thought I was being sarcastic and weren't happy. Anyway me,our bassist and our roadie ended up getting into a fight with these guys right on the spot. Didnt end well,me and the roadie were arrested (all charges were dropped lol)

another quick one...I got my mother to come out to a gig (which was a big deal for me) The whole time i'm playing theres an older woman dancing very sexually in front of me and I was mortified!!! my poor mom had to sit through that.

The coolest gig I played? (not really my gig,my friends but I was sitting in that night) Zakk wylde walked in and bought everyone in the bar drinks, talked to me and my friend (the guitarist in the other band) and was just a really really nice guy. not into metal but he could really play, check out his chicken pickin stuff and acoustic stuff. btw...sorry for the profanity in the photo and im the short guy with the john lee hooker shirt and fedora

Mine in an easy one. Played a fund raiser for a local troubled teens shelter. It was a "captive audience", to say the least. We didnt play any Snoop Dog or M&N, so the croud was less than enthusiastic. There were some donors/ staff that had a good time and were interested in the music, but I got tired of the "at risk little b*stards" and cut it way short. I dont think we ever tore down and loaded up so fast.

I haven't the chance to gig, but my first time at a practice for a band I tried to form ended up being two hours of me trying to learn some stupid Cheyrl Crow song I didn't know. Worst part was the band was supposed to be a Blues Band. Since then, I've become more agressive with what direction I want to go and what songs I want to play. That experience showed me to know what I want before I invite people out...

I was fifteen and playing in the school jazz band. I shared first chair (trumpet) with another guy and he was supposed to solo at our first concert. Well, he never showed. I had about twenty minutes or so to get ready to fill in on the solo. I pretty much already new it but I went over it a couple of times anyway. Just to be sure. So the show starts, we play a couple of peices and get to my solo. I got so nervous my right leg started shaking uncontrollably. I made it through ok and thought no one noticed. What I failed to realize was the entire concert band was behind me as I stood on the riser for the brass section and saw everything. The next day at school was outrageous, everyone had a joke or just had to laugh at my expense. It was cool though, I got all the solos after that and didn't have that problem again.

I have plenty:

Mi first gig ever at 15-16 at high school, I was a new member of the local "high school rock band" everyone loved us, In the annual school "concert" I was plugged to the P.A and my guitar didn´t work, I was so upset i started crying and slammed my guitar to the floor, broke the neck.

Back then also with those guys made a huge teenager gig in the bass players backyard which was like a terrace on a cliff, so we were playing a cover of the cure´s "jumping someone elses train" and this dude is really drunk and slamdancing, starts dancing backwards, and backwards, hits the huge speaker, the speaker falls down the cliff (it was on the edge of the terrace) the speakers cable got tangled in the dudes foot, and down he goes with the speaker like 20 feet!!! the dude broke dis ribs and the speaker got trashed.

A couple of years back we were playing in a big venue a sports arena, that was in a renown tough neighborhood, so there were on each corner of the arena some dudes catapluting the slamdancers very high up in the air, and some times they got caught and some times they didn´t, We were playing a theme song that talks of that specific neighborhood, we let them know and so the crowd got REAL crazy. I´ll always remember this chick who got thrown "to the stratosphere", and no one caught her, and she slammed real hard, I think she broke her nose or something, and this dude comes along, picks her up and throws her back into the multitude, in a second!, the sicker the slam, the quicker he or she was put on their feet and tossed back in the multitude.
And then I look 2 the side, and there´s some dude runnning away with my spare guitar (my 79 strat), I had to stop playing on the spot and run down (with violence) the freaking thief!!!!

Wow, that's harsh! Never understood that whole slam dance thing. Rock out, don't rock someone out...

What kind of music does one have to play to get people to beat the crap out of each other for fun? Was the band name, Fight Club?

Gig #1 Lol, Mate are you sure you were'nt doing the same gig with my band. This is exactly the same thing that happened to us, with same circumstances all round.
I reckon we played 5 songs and I just shut it all down and told the DJ to crank up the Rap, then we exited the building quicker than Elvis with our cash.

Gig #2 was at a Local Hotel and we had packed the joint with approx 200 people in a good sized front bar.
What $@!&*% up this gig was some massive bloke who was refused service at the bar because he was too intoxicated. So he decided to start beating up anybody and everybody.
I never thought that I would be using my 1984 E Series Strat as a baseball bat swinging it at this bloke to ward him away from the band.

LOL... Ten Cop Cars turned up and everything. !!So embarrassing!!
The venue blamed us and don't want us back.

Since then We have since won 2x SA music industry awards for best act and most popular act.

It was a punk rock song, very fast, those people in that neighborhood are very crazy, they like violence and music, I don´t support it either, but if you´re playing and they go wild, what you´re gonna do?? Tell them hey fellas please don´t slamdance will ya?? yeah right!!.......we´d get thrown out of stage and probably get our asses kicked!!!

lol thats epic
heres mine(its a practice, not a gig tho): my friend and i decide to start a grunge band and he says he knows a bassist that can also sing. i think "cool sounds good"..... we meet at my friends house for practice and this kid shows up, high as a kite; we didnt notice at first. so we get started with smells like teen spirit and the kid starts singing U2 (very badly might i add). I say, "what in gods name was that?!?!" his reply? "thats the #$%& song we were playing!!!!".

Lol, I think my fists would of been clenched after him saying that.

Another one gig I forgot.

I was in another band and we scored this real high flyer corperate gig at a horse racing venue wich the stage was set up out near the track.

It's a heatwave of 45 degrees + and our Lead Singer Guitarist turned up PISSED.

He was so hammerd he could not even plug his guitar lead in. As a result of him not being able to do that, he got agro at everyone in the audience who were pumped and ready for the band. Our Roadie dragged him off the stage and everyone cheered...the only thing was I had to step up and sing and play lead guitar. We just managed to pull off the gig with everyone having fun..

A week later at our rehearsal our bass player gave our beloved leader a flogging for shaming us. Man...I think it's time to stop because there are so many Rock Stories...LOL..

Don't forget the Great Ones everybody....

if you hit him once over his head with your guitar you wont have to worry about your small size because after one hit he will be knocked out cold on the ground. just make sure he dosn't know where you live
