I'm in the market for a new guitar, and I think i have it narrowed down to 3 different options. I am looking at an American Standard in either Charcoal Frost Metallic or Candy Cola, an American Deluxe, or the American Select. I really like the American Select, but can't seem to find any information on it anywhere other than the places that are selling it. From what I can find, it has 2 custom staggered tex mex pups, a diamondback humbucker pup, rolling nut, 2-point tremelo, and a painted headstock. Does anyone know if this is an older model? Fender doesn't seem to have any "select" model listed on their website.

hey, all 3 are really nice. I've never played a select so I cant comment on that. but the amdeluxe is very nice. has the s1 switch, lots of tonal options, either way you cant really go wrong. I guess it comes down to preference. keep us updated on what you get

Select model sound very similar to the American Special of today. I haven't seen a roller nut in a long time. Either regular nut or Floyd Rose nuts are all I've seen on new Fender guitars coming out of the shop. That guitar sounds like an old model still hanging around the shop. Should get a good deal on it though.....

Here's the link to the American Select on the guitar center website. I looked up the serial number found in one of the photo's and it comes back to an '07 American Deluxe. Not sure if the pictures accurate though. Still a nice looking guitar. Not 100% sure its a roller nut, but it looks like one in the picture. Can someone confirm that or correct me if I'm wrong?

sapphire_strat,

Good luck on your search. All three are great guitars and would be awesome guitars. Please post pics when you do decide and get it. I love pics.
