Can this be done?

Has anyone ever converted their HSS to a SSS. Not sure why I want to do this. I like the the sound I get out of the bridge humbucker, but the traditionalist in me says it should be a singel coil.....

I put Hot Noiseless in the Neck and Middle position and have the Hot Noiseless bridge pickup setting hear staring at me.....like it wants to scream!!!! I'm assuming this would mean that I would have to buy a new pick guard....anything else?

Any concern about putting a single coil in a hole routed for a humbucker...tone loss?

Not sure what I want to do....if anything. What do you think?

By the way, I love the forum. Great information!

New pickguard is all. Most new stuff is routed HSS anyway. No tone loss. Option #2 is buy an SSS to keep the HSS company.Welcome to the forum. Good luck.......... 8) Mike

I like option 2...but the Mrs may not like that one as well....LOL!

Just wondering, will I hear much of a tonal difference?

Basically you just won't have the bucker there. I have an American Deluxe HSS and love the tonal spectrum it opens up with the humbucker. But I also have an SSS American Standard for the purist in me.Go play an SSS and see if that's what your after........... 8) Mike

Here's a question. Is there a way to tap the humbucker pickup so that you split it into a single coil like a push pull switch on a Gibson mod?

There are humbuckers that you certainly do that with I'm not sure about the HSS but I believe that Fender does make a humbucker with this capability.Martian,Nikininja or Ceri would know for sure.
