I bet there are a lot of guys like me.

When we bought them, they were just used guitars, cheaper than new ones!

Now, 30 years later, they are VINTAGE and worth big bucks. Sweet!

True. But the money is much less of a headache than the guitar, for me anyway. But that's just me.

The guitars can be a headache?

Do you mean the storage, insurance, worry, upkeep?

Yes. Blame my Punk 'anything goes' background. I like them, but when they became more 'collectible' than 'guitar', then away they went....

If you are a collector of antiques, the older the better. Personally, I just want'em to stay in tune for most of the gig.

"there is a certain amount of responsibility that comes with owning a vintage guitar anymore."

I have friends that would always ask to "borrow" or ask to let them take it on the road.......nnnooooppppeee.My question to them was ....can you leave me a deposit in cash for the current market value ??? Only then would I consider it,usually they were brokeass like me.Hee,Hee.

I certainly agree, the last 64' I had that was 110% original would travel with me when I left town for a week or longer.Yes,it was a pain.....but repacing it would have been a nightmare. She was sunburst with all original Fender parts. even had the trem arm......the only thing I ever did to that guitar was replace the strings,it was awesome and nailed EVERY 60's Strat tone on the planet, that's why PreCbs is my personal preference always.....that's when I can afford it as well.

By the way??? Does anyone remember looking in the paper and seeing these same older Strats and Pauls for $300.00 or less??? If I knew then what I know now.....DOH!!!

Once a alcoholic strat player sold me his 69' olympic white/maple neck strat for $100.00 cause he didn't want to wipe the puke off after he vomited on it.

Needless to say.....I took it home....polished and cleaned.....it was like new then!

Yes. As I said above "When we bought them, they were just used guitars, cheaper than new ones!" That was WAY back when, for sure. I still have the ones I bought then.
