I've had the guitar three years now. The most damage or relicing was above the pickguard/upper horn and the back. That was natural not "let me beat this guitar up on purpose" I gig alot, I like to play crazy sometimes, things happen lol. My father did the stripping and will do the refinish sometime this week (I don't trust myself to do it). Then im going to finish it with a thin- coat of nitro (which I believe my father purchased from StewMac.com).

Hope you have a backup. Nitro takes a long time between thin coats and sanding. Its going to be awhile before that guitar is ready to play again.

I should've looked into that...How long does it take nitro to settle?? I've got 3 other electrics. None of them are near the hwy1 though.

I've heard that if you're doing it right, up to six months for the nitro to cure properly. However, I think it takes 10 to 20 coats of very thin finish with sanding in-between. I've heard it takes 3 to 6 hours for it to dry.... That guitar will be out of commision. I'm sure Stu-Mac has some good directions to follow. There is a website to help, projectguitar.com...
