I heard somewhere that MIA strats are routed for HSH, but MIMs are routed for HSS. Is this true???

No its dependant on the guitar not the place of origin. I've MIM routed HHS and a AM DLX routed HSH. My Vintage Hotrod is SSS as I suspect all VRI series guitars are. An older MIM body I had was routed HSS.

MIA and Squier Strats are usually routed for HSH.

A lot of rumours spreading over the Web said that several MIAs feature the unusual HHH pickup rout.

There was a short period in the mid-1980s during which certain Japanese Contemporary Stratocasters featured an HHH rout.

I've heard just the opposite. All MIM/MIA are routed HSH configuration...

Well my '07 MIA Highway 1 Stratocaster is a HSS route. I heard most MIM are HSH. I have heard a lot of older 80's models were the HHH or swimming pool route.

I checked specs on the American Standard strat. It is routed for HSH. All the other models' routings weren't specified in their specs.

Thanks for all the replies.

Now a more specific question. Does anybody know if american special strats(not hss) are routed for HSH? :?:

Right now I am not 100% sure; however, if they are to be the next-gen of the Highway 1 then they should be. I will be visiting a guitar shop that has these American Specials in stock now and I will ask them if they are routed HSH. When I find out for sure, I will post it.
