Hello everybody. This is my first post. I used to play guitar years ago. I'm looking to start back up again, because my girl is a writer and a singer and I'd like to be able to play with her (pun intended)!!

The only reason this caught my eye is because I like the sunburst with the gold hardware.... and the price is right.

Her style is Rock/Country. Kind of a Cheryl Crow/Shania Twain/Janis Joplin sound.

Thanks for any advice.

And yes... I know I should play it and see how it feels to me... but I really can't play anymore.. and lookin to start from the beginning.

;)

The Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster is a GREAT guitar!!

I just bought one, after eyeballing them for months. I love it!!

I have to say I got a chuckle out of what caught your eye--the gold hardware and sunburst finish. What caught my eye was 3 things:

1) The 12" radius neck.

This was a BIG deal to me. I've wanted an affordable Fender guitar with this flatter neck radius for a long time.
Thank you, Fender!! :)

2) The Noiseless Vintage pickups.

Yes--a quiet Strat!! Another great feature. And don't let the word "Vintage" fool you. These are NOT wimpy pickups.
Thank you, Fender! :)

3) The button to extend the pickup selection from 5 choices to 7 choices.

For the 1st time ever--a factory Strat that you could select the neck and bridge pickups only, or, engage all 3 pickups at once! What a great and long overdue addition.
Thank you, again, Fender!! :)

From what I can tell, the biggest material difference between this Made in Mexico guitar vs. an American made Strat is the body wood. The Deluxe Player's Strat has an ash body; the American Strats have alder bodies.

I've owned other Made in Mexican Strats and I've been very happy with all of them. Probably because the parts are made in the USA and shipped to Mexico for assembly. I've also owned American made Strats. I've never met a Strat I didn't like.

Hope all this info helps you, and assures you that you will be getting a great instrument if you decide to purchase a Deluxe Player's Strat.

Disclaimer: I do NOT work for Fender or have any affiliation with them, beyond being a very satisfied customer and happy Fender player.

John

You laughin at me!!!!!

Thanks for you're feedback. That's what I was looking for. I'm pretty much starting from scratch, and looking for something not too expensive that will last.

Also, on the GC website, it says it has Tex-Mex pickups. Is that different from a regular deluxe? What is the sound comparison?

Thanks again!!

;)
