I've been watching some Youtube vid's of the band Back Door Slam with frontman/guitarist Davy Knowles.

All I can say is wow, look this guy up on youtube and listen to his Redhouse cover.

Who else should make the cut as the next possible great blues player out there???

I did notice now Paul Reed Smith has stolen Davy away from Fender. I guess if someone offers to build you a guitar from scratch just the way you want it, you'd switch from Fender too.

What a shame. He's one of the reasons why I wanted a strat!

Noticed how he's dimed that Clapton vibrato. A mean trick for sure.

PRS is reading the tea leaves. Orianthi has a signature guitar already. albeit an SE. Seems that you don't really have to do the time anymore.

That's true, but 20 years ago, Kenny Wayne Sheperd did the same exact thing. Davy Knowles is not mainstream, at least not yet, but he has a great voice and chops. He's what a friend of mine would call an old soul. He's body's young, but he's soul when playing seems much older....

The liner notes on that link are specific for Gibson having given him a loaner for that gig. So here's the bidding war again between the makers for artist endorsement, hence sale of product. Gibson got JB to kick the Fender habit because, according to him, Fender screwed up big time. If Gibson can get endorsement agreement out of this guy, people like you are going to want his guitar, which looks to me to be a 339.

Doc

He's already a fan of Gibsons. It looks like he favors a pair of Gibson J-45 acoustics. But I doubt Gibson will give him a deal since PRS has a combination of guitars that have similiar properties to both Fender and Gibson. Besides, the way Gibson seems to be lately, they might not be able to gain amymore endorsements. I've heard there is some shaky ground in Nashville. Rumor is they are close to selling or going out of business....

Time to stock up on some of those high end LP's and put 'em under the bed.

He's taken a lot of cover songs and completely made something fresh and rockin' out of it. Redhouse, Riding with the King, Back Door Slam, and more. Awesome stuff. I bought their first album from itunes. Every song is awesome.
