Hi all, I new to this forum but not to Fender as I have owned a '75 Tele Custom, and '60's Super Reverb Amp.

My question is, approximately how much does a Strat weigh? I am 55 and have severe back problems so guitar weight is an issue. I am currently playing Epiphone and Ibanez Semi-Hollows because they weigh only seven lbs. I have an '76 LP Standard that weighs ten Lbs. I bought it new thirty years ago when ten Lbs only made my shoulder ache. I don't Play it very much because it is too heavy.

I have alway wanted a Strat so I'll have the entire spectrum of guitar tones covered but if it weighs more that eight Lbs it isn't worth it too me.

All help will be appreciated.

Welcome Aboard!!!!!

Weights will vary from guitar to guitar. The best thing to do is go check out what your local dealers have in stock to see if you can find one light enough for you.

The weights can vary massively.
I just bought a Custom Shop weighing in at just under 8Lbs (Nice).
But just sold my 16 year old US Strat plus which weighed 11lBS (Not nice)

So I would go and try a bunch - even within the same model they vary. Of course buying on line you don;' get to know and feel this.

hope it helps

The normal weight of the everyday MIA or MIM Strat is between 7.5 and 8Lbs.

My EJ Strat feels very light and very comfortable to hold. I don't know it's actual weight.

Make sure you come back and lets us know what you think after you play your new strat thru the Super Reverb. The first time I did it was a religious experience. Oh yeah, make sure you test drive an Eric Johnson strat. You won't be disappointed.
