I love my '02 Powerhouse in Inca Silver. Inca can look bright silver or green or, like in the pic below, Pewter. The boost is cool and the battery seems to last forever.

Bought it used or I would have chosen a maple fretboard.

Have you clipped the two resistors on the boost pot? This tip is useful to unlock the full 25dB boost.

I read that tip just this morning so I haven't tried it. Didn't know it was possible to get 25 dB out of the 12dB circuit. I'll have to check it out further.

Love that color, stratmansteve!

I just got my '06 back from my luthier after he worked his magic with the neck and changed out a few parts. Mine's in Caramel Metallic with a rosewood fretboard. For some reason it came with an aged white MOP pickguard which just did not do it for the guitar's cosmetics. So I installed a parchment type along with aged knobs, pickup covers, etc. The guitar now has a MIA bridge with a steel trem block which made a big difference in sustain. The boost circuit is pretty cool -- like having a built-in TS9.

Anybody here know how to wire up a dummy coil on a strat, or if there is a schematic on this site for a strat with a dummy coil that would be wired like a standard? The Powerhouse Strat has the boost, so it's wired differently than a standard. Also, I've got CS 69's in my strat, and I'm planning on using the middle pickup off of a mim standard from '07 for removing the magnets and creating the dummy coil, as I've got one laying around. As far as I know it's rw/rp, but i'm sure the output is slightly different. Anybody know what effect that would have if they are different? I don't have a meter (though I should probably just get one!), so I've no idea how much difference there is between them, if any. Also I have the pups from a '98 Deluxe Player's Strat (I think it was called something like a Super Switching Strat back when I got it) laying around if the middle pickup on there would be a closer match to the output of the CS 69's, but I'm not sure off the top of my head if that one is rw/rp, though I would think it would be. That's also assuming that I would need rw/rp, but from what I've read I think it needs to be. Anyway, any insight would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I have bought the powerhouse, when i got it, the poor old girl was missing her midboost circuit, so i got the 25db midboost circuit from my local fender dealer, i had a little bit of guesswork while wiring up the circuit seeming how the diagram that came with it was labelled wrong... the volume pot and the tone pot where both marked as 250k on the schematic, while the volume pot is actually a 50k pot and if you wire it backwards prepare for some pretty funky tone. and not to mention your output volume is directly affected by your tone pot hahaha.

any way... i had a set of vintage noiseless pups on order but couldn't wait to put the circuit in so i did and i took the dummy coil out at the same time because i thought f@#k it, ill just be pulling it out in two days anyway. but let me tell you the dummy coil sure seemed to cancel out quite a bit of noise... dont get me wrong the ultra quiets are still pretty good standing alone but not nearly as quiet as the name suggests.

If anyone has one of the dummy coils out of a Powerhouse Strat I'd would be VERY interested in buying, trading or any method of acquiring it. I love my Powerhouse but I got it cheap because the dummy coil is open (doesn't work).

I saw Douglyndz saying he was taking his out. So, hey Doug, if you don't want that coil contact me here: ksepulchre at gmail dot com.

Thanks!

Just take the magents out of a cheapo pickup. Hey presto, dummy coil.

As far as I know Doctor Seb had made some changes on his own Powerhouse guitar.

1. A trio of dual-coil Ceramic pickups (the same pickups used on the Jeff Beck Strat) replacing the factory-installed Ultra Quiets. Full 25dB boost feature unlocked with the resistors clipped out. Original No-load tone circuit upgraded to TBX.

Image

2. A Warmoth birdseye maple neck with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard and matching ebony headstock veneer.

Image

3. A gold anodized pickguard in place of the stock white pearloid.
