I have a '94 MIM Strat "Squier Series" S/N MN4XXXXX with the half size trem block. The threaded hole that accepts the trem arm is drilled out all the way through the block such that when I try to install the little spring that holds the arm snug, the spring falls right out the back of the block and into the trem spring cavity.

Here is a picture, not my actual trem, just a pic I found on the web, which shows the through hole to the left and below the string holes.

I like my trem arm to move easily, but to stay where I put it and not dangle which is why I like to use the little spring. However, on this guitar I have not been able to figure out a way to make the spring work.

Any ideas?

You can try wrapping a little teflon tape around the threads and losing the spring all together

I have done this for over a decade on my strat.

Let's see:

A screw in the back.
Solder the hole closed.
JB Weld the hole closed.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll start with the teflon tape idea, though my concern there was having to retape whenever I take the arm out to transport the guitar. If that becomes a problem, I will go go for one of the hole filling techniques suggested by Chet.
