I went to the products page and searched American. I am not sure that all these guitars are American made, but a lot of them are. I do not see the Highway 1, it's also Made in the US. At least this is a good start for your search. This list does not include Custom Shop Fenders or older models. You can try a Google/Bing search as well. Welcome to the Forum.

If it has a gig bag, it is MIM. The one exception (or now two, I guess) is the Highway 1 and the new American Special.

Who told you that? MIM Strats are 21 Frets. Highway 1 and American Specials have 22, hence American.

I can tell you this. Attention to Detail (an old Army term used way to much when I was in).

I've tried the Highway 1 and America Special... They are so cheap because they need work.

Action is too high, truss rods need adjustment, frets need to be dressed and filed on the edges. And there is no tinting in the necks. They look like Squires from a distance.

Unfortunatley, the handfull I've tested all share the same characteristics. Lack of quality. MIM Deluxe series are better.

Difference between MIM and MIA(highway1/Special) strats?

30 miles and 1 Fret wire.

It is not about asking anyone about anything. A Hwy 1 says "Made In The USA" on the headstock regardless of how you want to break it down.

I stand corrected.

I was told by someone that they are mexican parts assembled in the us, but I guess I was misinformed.

Either way, the quality of those USA strats (hwy 1) are really not up to par in terms of quality when comparing it to an American Standard imo

A good guitar is a good guitar. A bad guitar is a bad guitar. Country of origin means nothing to me. Brand means nothing to me. If it plays well and sounds good, I will buy it if I am looking for a new guitar. I chose a Highway 1 over an American Standard. I chose a Squier CV over a MIM Standard. Are all American or Mexican Standards crap...no. Just the guitars I purchaced were better than any others I played the days I purchaced them. YMMV

You are right, the difference between any MIM and MIA guitar is 30 miles.

so true....I have always been fascinated by the whole MIM vs MIA argument.....I have a MIM and I have not seen a reason for the geographical location to be an issue....how many MIA owners have a car from japan and plates from china.............is the wood for a MIM felled from a tree grown in Mexico or the U.S.....see the point......now some tree expert will be on here saying something regarding the quality of mexican wood

I'm not knocking guitars made in other countries, and I am not criticizing anyone who buys these guitars ( I myself have a chinese made Fender accoustic and a Japanese made Alvarez); but if I can help keep a job in the USA, by buying an American made product, I would like to do it.
