Has anyone tried using Butchers Wax or any silicone free wax formula on their Highway One. Will these prevent you from getting orange peel finish on your guitar. Any info would be a great help, I just would like to keep my blonde finish to hold its color with a satin shine if possible, also will the microfiber polishing cloth work as well, thanks for any info!

On your first question, no I have not tried those products. For my H-1 I used Maguires scratch X and a microfiber cloth to get rid of the dull finish and shine up the guitar. To get rid of the orange peel effect from what I haver read, you would need to sand down the top coat with a fine wet sand paper and buff out the body afterward.

Hi pauljam, welcome to the Forum.

Orange peel is an unwanted effect you sometimes get when spraying the finish. It is not something that happens afterwards.

To clean your HWY-1 you should mostly use a clean cloth, some warm moist breath and plenty of elbow grease. If you use a polish of any kind you will gradually put a shine on that satin finish, which you say you don't want.

Ultimately, that might happen in any case: even the rubbing of your sleeve against the forearm contour will eventually shine it up a little. But maybe not too much.

Cheers - C
