I'm hoping some of the strat gurus on here can help me out with a little info. My wife bought me a new MIM HSS strat for christmas and I'm trying to figure out if the body is alder or ash. I can't even find this particular model anywhere in Fenders online catologs (i checked the 07, 08, and 09...no luck) The serial number tells me it was made in 08 at the ensinada plant , the finish is sienna sunburst with a brown tourtaseshell pickgaurd (according to the catalogs, this finish and the pickgaurd were only offered on the MIA strats) the neck is tinted and has a rosewood fretboard. On the back of the headstock is a "special edition" sticker. From downloading pictures of diffrent tone woods it appears to have an ash body....but I'm not 100% sure about it. Any info you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. On a side note, the stock single coil pups sound great, but the bucker is kind of thin sounding and I'm not real satisfied with it and am thinking about upgrading to maybe a SD any suggestions on a particular model would be appreciated. I normally play clean or with a little crunch , primarily blues, blues rock, rockabilly, and occasionally some hard stuff from the 70's (ACDC, sabbath, ect.) Sorry I can't post a picture, but I'm out of town at the moment.

Yep, with that transparent paint they would use an Ash body so you can see the nice grain !
