Surely there are a few 54's, 55's and 56's on here. Could include any Fender come to think of it.

Looks like I'm in the lead with a '78.

The oldest we've seen on this Forum was a 1953 prototype: the first body to contain the patented synchronized tremolo. The owner is a Forum member. Here's a thread about it.

usually 53strat will poke his head around whenever there's a topic like this, and shows off the ORIGINAL strat. He is such a lucky guy.

he's the owner of the strat proto. What a godly instrument.

Yes, it's certainly got the oldest Strat parts (the body and prototype tremolo), but there have been a couple of whole 1954 guitars seen here. I'm not sure when the earliest of those was made, however.

Well it is not me. I have an '07 Fender Stratocaster and a '08 Squier Stratocaster.

I am still looking in Antique stores looking for some Fender guitar found in someone's attic/basement not played in years for dirt cheap. It can happen. It's like winning the lottery (lol). BTW I have not found one yet, the oldest guitar I found was a '80 acoustic that was not worth the $200 asking for it (just in really bad condition).

Guy I know in Florida is a member of a band known as The Whitestone Band. Uses a '54 Strat fairly regularly in his work.

Our Vin's having a rough time lately lads.

If any of you have his email address please wish him well. He could do with it.

Okay! I was just slow in taking some new pics. And I'm not a very good photographer. Let's start with an introductory pic, followed by one of the body date.

You can make out the "7/5" but the "4" is under the claw and I didn't feel like taking it apart. So this is a pretty old one.

The back of the headstock is interesting because these early ones have different "sanding" contours than subsequent guitars. The tuners have the blank line (no Kluson words).

Truly a thing of beauty, orvilleowner. The pickguard and pickup covers are pretty bright. Are they original? Either way, it's a looker! 8)
