I have a problem with static on my mim Standard Strat.
It has Vintage Noiseless pups that were on it when I got it.
The only time I get static is when I rub my finger on the pick guard.
I have noticed this to some degree on other Strats (mia) I have owned.
The difference is I like the sound of this one.
I'm not an electrician, but it seems to be grounded ok.
Because of my playing style (if you can call what I do playing) it is virtually impossible to not touch the pickguard.
Is this something that can be eliminated, or should I just get another Gretsch?

thanks for your help.
bob.

Try usung a fabric softener under the pick guard. If you are still getting static, you can try lining the pick-up cavity with copper lining.

Are you sure that the MIM has Vintage Noisless pick-ups? Unless you added them on, they are usually not standard on most MIM models.

The dryer sheet will really do the trick. Since it's winter time, you could first try just "rubbing" the dryer sheet on the pick guard. Doing that will keep you static free for a couple of hours

The Fender noiseless pickups are pretty easy to identify as they have Noiseless stamped on them. :o So, yes I'm pretty sure. Someone must have put them on before I found it. It also came with a nice vintage Fender USA hardshell case. I think the mim's come with soft bags.
Anyway, the dryer sheet worked. it Bounce'd the static away.

thanks for your help guys.

I know that dryer sheets sounds funny, but definately works. Sounds like you have one awesome guitar there.

Thanks RK.
I have a had a couple of Strats (MIA) in the past but just could not bond with them. I guess I am more of a Gretsch kind of guy (twang).
But I really like the sound of this one.

:D
