Finally completed her again over christmas, so thought i'd share as I hadn't already....

Z6 2006/7 American Strat - I bought in July 2007, but the body and everywhere seems to have 8/12 written on them, which suggests it was probably being put together/painted around december...no idea how long it takes these things to get out of production and into shops or whether this guitar was just sitting in its display stand for a while....

DImarzio dp409 virtual 2 in bridge
Dimarzio dp408 pro 54 in middle
Dimarzio dp409 virtual heavy blues 2 in neck

3 way switch - i always found myself knocking 5 way switches into the out of phase positions far too easily particularly on the neck pickup, which does ruin those bluesy solos somewhat

Alsa replaced the trem block and arm after the old one sheared off

very nicely actually, the virtual 2 was a mis-buy as it was advertised badly on ebay - i was actually after anohter heavy blues 2 (which i think is very slightly warmer), but haven't had any problems with it. I don't know why, but they all seem much more strat-ish that most modern strat pickups do. my old stock pickups were just thin and sharp, whereas these are far more rounded and have more depth but sound pretty much exactly like a strat as you hear it on classic videos, and obviously have the advantage of noise cancelation.

Sheared off?
Do tell.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

don't know if it was just overuse of the arm, but about 6 months ago it just broke off with the screw end still in the bridge...

I must also tip my hat to that sweet axe, is that the olympic white, against parchment white pick guard? I have an 09' MIM tele in arctic white with parchment guard, all maple neck with the neck tint offered by fender on the new models. Gotta love that white on maple!

Great Color/Neck combo. You really can't go wrong with a strat. One of the most consistent and awesome sounding instruments, but I guess that's why it's been around for so long!
