G'day all.

Cutting a long story short, back in '92 I bought my first electric, a new MIM Strat in LPB. Fitted Texas Specials and loved it for 14 years. Then times were a bit tough and as I wasn't really playing all that much, stupidly I sold it. Regretted it almost immediately. Anyway back at the start of last year I bought a Tele as I'd gotten back into playing and although I LOVE the Tele, I kinda still missed the sheer comfort and "feel" of the Strat.

Yesterday I went to pick up a new Blues Junior amp and I just couldn't resist the Midnight Wine HSS strat hanging on the wall. I'm satisfied again!

Wasn't really after an HSS but I just fell in love with the colour and I figure if I don't take to the 'bucker I can always swap the scratchplate and fit a single coil. Sweet!

Oh and here's a "family" shot.

Mate, that story brings a tear to the old eye when I remember 'the one that got away'

Im gassing over a HSS Floyd Rose as I used to have one years ago- that is sorely missed. Good for you mate- you did the right thing :)

Did you get the amp at the same time as your new strat?

I went out to get the amp and brought the strat home as well! Wife wasn't too impressed...

Yeah the pics are mine. I'm a photographer by day and figured the only way the Midnight Wine colour was going to show properly was to set up some proper lights and backdrop. Tried taking just "snapshots" but the Strat just always looked black.

Cheers.

Get your wife a kitten mate, that will do the trick. Trust me.

A mate of mine brought a 42" LCD TV and a PS3 and his wife was not happy. The next day he went to the SPCA and got her a kitten for not much at all and she was stoked. :lol

She thought it was a great deal

She hates cats mate! Whatever I spent on the gear, she reckons she should be allowed to spend on shoes! LOL!

It'll all blow over in a few days. I just can't wait for her to go out for a few hours so I can CRANK it...

Hope you don't mind my asking but since I know Oks and Kiwis pay a premium dollar for their gear I'm curious about what you had to pay for the new Strat.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'm assuming it is a MIM Standard:

Model: 0144700375

Got the Strat for $879 Aussie dollars. Standard MIM HSS. The amp was $899. Quite a few places doing them for that or even a bit less but I'm really happy with the service from this particular store so I was happy to pay that price. The list price here is $1249 for the guitar and $1299 for the amp. Funny how when our dollar became stronger against the U.S. Dollar, prices here DIDN'T go down...

Both those items sell for about $600 here. In fact I'm pretty sure I just saw a new BJ last week at L&M for about $560. Makes one wonder if the shipping and duty charges could be low enough to make ordering stuff online cheaper in the long run.
